Science fiction anno 1853

In 1853 Hans Christian Andersen issued a marvellous piece of science fiction named Om Aartusinder (In millenia / In a thousand years), describing in detail the transatlantic airborne charter trafic. Although the time scale did not come out right, it was anyway an admirable precise prophecy, difficult for modern scenario-creators to surpass.

The above illustration showing an air steamer approaching the Irish coast was cut by Vilhelm Pedersen, 50 years before the first succesful flight of the Wright brothers.
