A possible answer is that an extreme left wing organization pioneered wind power in Denmark. The
Tvind wind turbine was built in 1975, it was the largest wind mill in the world for many years, and it is still working. This is admirable, but it seems as this origin has added an aura of collectivism to wind power, no matter that the production of wind turbines in Denmark is now really big business.
